1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites save on the User's device while browsing, in order to store information or recognise the device on subsequent visits.

Similar technologies, such as pixels, local storage and SDKs, perform comparable functions and are treated here as equivalent to cookies. Cookies allow the site to work properly and to remember some of the User's preferences.

2. Types of cookies used

Technical cookies, always active: these are necessary for the site to operate and to deliver the services requested by the User and do not require consent under Article 122 of the Privacy Code. They include navigation, session, authentication, security and preference-storage cookies.

Analytics cookies: these are used to collect aggregated information about the use of the site. If set by third parties and not anonymised, they are treated as profiling cookies and require consent; analytics cookies that are made anonymous, with a masked IP address and no cross-referencing with other data, may be treated as technical cookies.

Profiling and third-party cookies: these are used to track browsing and deliver advertising in line with the User's preferences and require the User's prior consent.

3. Cookies and tools actually used by the site

casaperstudenti.it uses technical session and authentication cookies, which are essential for the site to work and to keep the User's session, for example to access the restricted area.

It also uses technical preference cookies, which remember certain choices made by the User, such as the selected language, in order to show the site in Italian or English.

A technical cookie is used to store the User's choices regarding cookies and has an indicative duration of between six and twelve months.

For payment processing the site relies on Stripe, which sets technical and security cookies, for example __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid, necessary to complete transactions and to prevent fraud, with a duration ranging from the session up to about one year.

Listing maps are provided via OpenStreetMap: some mapping features may set third-party technical cookies.

Any analytics cookies, for example Google Analytics, are used only if active and, where not anonymised, solely subject to the User's consent. Any profiling cookies for marketing purposes are installed only subject to consent. For third-party cookies, the purposes and durations are defined by the respective controllers, whose privacy notices are referred to below.

4. Consent management

On the first visit to the site a cookie banner is shown, allowing the User to accept all cookies, to reject non-technical cookies, or to customise their choices by individual category.

Non-technical cookies are installed only after consent has been obtained. The User may change or withdraw their choices at any time through the dedicated cookie settings link in the site footer.

Simply closing the banner without making a choice, or merely scrolling the page, does not constitute consent.

5. Management through the browser

The User can also manage or disable cookies through their browser settings.

For Google Chrome the guide is available at https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647; for Mozilla Firefox at https://support.mozilla.org/it/kb/Gestione%20dei%20cookie; for Safari at https://support.apple.com/it-it/guide/safari/sfri11471/mac; for Microsoft Edge at https://support.microsoft.com/it-it/microsoft-edge.

Disabling technical cookies may impair the proper functioning of the site and some of its features.

6. Third-party cookies and their notices

For cookies set by third parties, the purposes and durations are determined by the respective controllers, to whose full notices reference is made.

Stripe's privacy notice is available at https://stripe.com/it/privacy; Google's cookie notice is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

7. Relationship with the Privacy Policy

For all information on the processing of personal data, the legal bases, the User's rights and retention periods, please refer to the casaperstudenti.it Privacy Policy, of which this Cookie Policy is an integral part.

8. Changes

This Cookie Policy may be updated over time. The current version, with the date of the latest update, is always available on this page of casaperstudenti.it.
